The course provides learners with a basic awareness of the safety management system and what is needed within an organization to reduce risks and hazards.
It includes both theoretical and practical information on how to carry out risks assessments and prevent accidents.

- Assess whether manual handling can be avoided.
- Determine whether a preliminary or detailed risk assessment of manual handling activities is required.
- Undertake the risk assessment.
- Identify and implement measures to minimise and control risk.
