3. Assessment
The Assessment consists of multiple-choice questions. Upon successful completion of the assesment you will receive your certificate.
4. Certificate
You will receive a download link for your certificate. You are free to (re)print your certificate anytime. A signed and stamped original hard-copy by mail can be ordered.
FAQ
This Ship Security Officer (SSO) online course provides you with the skills to develop, implement and maintain ship security plans in accordance with international maritime security standards. The course is in accordance with the Mandatory Minimum Requirements for the Issue of Certificates of Competency for Ship Security Officers as set out in STCW A-VI/5 and IMO Model Course 3.19.
Upon completion of the SSO course and passing the assessments, you’ll receive a downloadable Ship Security Officer Certificate that has been approved by the Liberian Registry and therefore accepted by Panama.
Yes, the SSO course is available in its entirety online, which allows you to study at your own pace.
The course covers the identification of security threats, ship security plans and emergency procedures in accordance with IMO guidelines.
The course is designed for seafarers appointed as Ship Security Officers onboard.
The course typically takes 17 to 21 hours to complete, including both theory and practical on-board exercises.
The course costs €99 or $109 USD, depending on your currency preference.
After passing the assessment, you will receive a download link for your signed and stamped certificate approved by ECMT (Emergency Control and Maritime Training)
