STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) requires hands-on activities like swimming and firefighting, so sorry, not available online. You will need to go to a physical training center.
The course starts by opening a new window. From our experience this can be an issue when using a Mac. We strongly recommend using Google Chrome instead of Safari. But, in case you want to proceed with Safari (MAC), please follow these steps to solve the problem.
1. Click Safari and choose Preferences.
2. Go to the Privacy tab.
3. In the Cookies and website data section, uncheck Block all cookies.

Alternatively you could do the course on a mobile device (smartphone or tablet)If all is right you should have received an email when you signed up with instructions to download and login to the App. The main advantage of using the App is that it also will work when you are offline and syncs when online again.
Yes you certainly can train offline on your tablet or phone (iOS and Android). When online again your progress and certification will be synced with our database. Download the App and one-time login with stcw.academy and your username and password. Every course you signed on for will be available for download to your mobile device.

Recognition of STCW courses is dependent upon the flag state that your ship registered with, and any company policy. However, as company policy may vary, the best guidance is to contact the crewing team of your new or current employer as they will be able to give guidance on both their own policies and flag state requirements.
